Haha thanks for all the birthday
wishes! It was a good week. Interesting week for sure, but good. We had
this small party on Friday with the branch president and one of his
counselors and the pension and these other two ladies in the branch that
are awesome. We had this really good rice dish and then Brazilian cake
with maracuyá (passion fruit - but that sounds dumb in English) filling.
So good. And yes, in accordance with Bolivian tradition, my head was
smashed into the cake. But that just means that my piece was bigger
haha!
Then our little friend B** got baptized on
Saturday. Elder P** baptized him and then I confirmed him
yesterday. The baptism was interesting because we were really busy all
morning and couldn´t fill up the font until 2 hours before the actual
baptism, which is something you should never do in Bolivia haha!
(memories of filling up fonts by make-shift well and bucket in el Plan
haha). But ya, we get there and everything is good...... for 3 minutes
when we find out that there´s no water..... Awesome. Normal in Cobija
actually. We only have water 1 or 2 times a week so everyone has huge
tanks to store it all all week. And the tank in the church wasn´t
filled........ But there´s a pump that can take it from the even bigger
tank outside like a normal church..... But there wasn´t any power.......
Almost went straight to plan B, the river 5 minutes away... but then
the power worked and there was water. Ni modo. But it filled up SO SLOW.
Good thing B**´s really really really short haha.
Yesterday
was good. Nothing too exciting for my birthday, just a couple of small
things and Brazilian chocolate. But normal day no más because I don´t
like publicizing my birthday to the whole branch haha. But it was the
hottest day ever. It´s probably been a whole year since I sweat as much
as yesterday haha! But ya, good day.
Got the package today!
Elder D** couldn´t mail pouch to Cobija the other week, so didn´t get
it till today, so I´m gonna open it up later at home, but thanks!
Love
the pictures, sorry can´t send my own haha. Just tried again, but the
wifi is complicated here and wants something that my camera can´t do and
I lost my cable to plug the camera straight into the computer and left
the other one in Santa Cruz. Ni modo. It´s not worth getting a virus
putting the memory straight in. I might be the only missionary who´s
lived here without a virus on his camera haha.
But ya, that´s
basically it. Good week. There´s a family that came to church yesterday
and we´re really really really hoping that they get baptized the 15th so
I can be there! Lots of prayers.
Love you all. One day very soon you´ll see pictures.
Que tengan una excelente semana! Besits.
Elder Groneman
