This week was good, like always,
with lots of surprises too. So we had our quarterly interviews this last
week. Really good stuff. But we also found out that Elder L** is
headed home this next week, so now he`s just thinking about his house a
ton haha, but we`re still working hard. He didn`t really like the idea
at first that his release date changed and he`s headed home a transfer
earlier than he thought, but now he`s completely fine with it and super
excited. But ya, that was one thing that was new this week.
Another new thing is that the family that`s getting baptized had
their baptismal interviews on Saturday! And they all passed! It was
insane because they`re always early for everything, but we had to wait
for a long time, which was weird. So we called them up and her neighbor
answered and said that she wasn`t going to make it because she was
sick...... well her neighbors are interesting so I asked her to pass the
phone to la hermana so we could talk with her, and she was somewhat
hesitant in saying that they weren`t going to make it..... then after a
second she said that they were going to be there in like 20 minutes.
Weird. So we waited and then after half an hour we called them again and
they were waiting for the bus, which meant that they had already walked
for 15 minutes, and then they eventually got to the church. So when her
kids were having their interviews, she started explaining to us what
had happened. They were already to go, but because she had been washing
clothes outside her neighbor`s house and she had asked where they were
headed and she had said that they were going to the church, her neighbor
flipped out and started talking about how they couldn`t go ¨join in
with the horrible Mormons¨ that are just horrible people and they do
this and that and ya, stuff like that, and then said that she wasn`t
going to let them go to throw their lives away and so she held them back
in her house. Seriously, her neighbors are insane. They`ve killed their
animals before and tried to burn down their house more than once, and
ya, they're just crazy people. So then they waited until the neighbor went
inside for a second and they all escaped haha. Oh, Satan just can`t
win.
But the part that surprised us about all of this is that they
didn`t come to church yesterday. We were really really sad and super
confused. So we went to their house later in the afternoon and she was
in bed super super sick. Basically she looked like we had looked all
week being sick haha (other story). So it`s all good and they`re still
set on getting baptized, but not this Saturday. We`re thinking that it`s
better if they wait another week so that they can go to church again
the week before their baptism. Oh well, but all will work out in the
end.
What also surprised us is that another hermano came to church that
only comes once in awhile, and we didn`t even get the chance to visit
him or his wife this week because they`re always working and are really
hard to find. But he came, which didn`t really surprise us a whole ton,
but then last night we went to his house for the appointment that we had
and we had to reschedule because they had friends over, which didn`t
surprise us either. BUT, then we got talking for awhile outside their
house, which isn`t really like him to want to talk to us outside a whole
ton...... and then he told us that he`s not really sure still if he`s
gotten an answer yet, which isn`t anything new either...... but then he
told us that he`s reading what we had given him to read and he`s praying
too which is new...... then what`s more is that after telling us that
he`s not too sure if he`s received his answer, he feels good now about
what he`s doing and he`s planning on getting baptized on Sept 6th
because he feels good about that too...... wait, what?! Yes. He told us
that he`s getting baptized. Ya, està bien! Haha entonces that made the
whole day a lot better. So he`s getting baptized in September! I love it
how sometimes things just happen that you never expect. It really puts
everything into perspective and lets you know again that this really is
His work and everything happens in His own time and way.
There`s a ton more, but not lots of time to write. Yes, we were
sick too this week haha. One by one the 5 of us in Mangales each got
sick and were in bed for at least 1 day each, except Elder L**,
who only got a really bad cold, be he was still inside with us. Ni modo.
And as for Parker, pucha, ni modo, that`s just what happens in the
CCM. Everyone gets sick haha. Normal. You`ll all get sick again most
likely when you get out to the field haha. Cosas de la vida. Happens to
everyone. Hope you feel better this week.
And Sophie and Jeff, congrats. Sent you another email so you can just read that, but Felicidades!
And
the limits. No the stake presidents just didn`t decide on what they
wanted, they were just confirming on what already was, which was decided
with Salt Lake a little more than a year ago or something like that.
Think that`s it. It`s gonna be a good week with
lots of good things planned, not to mention the random surprises that
Heavenly Father throws at us haha. Just makes things more interesting
haha!
Amor,
Elder Groneman
