This week we´ve taught more than our
whole time here, which is awesome because we also went to another area
to teach too and that took up lots of time. La Familia B**, the
family that came to church last week, also is getting baptized on the
23rd! The mom, 3 of her 4 kids, and possibly her brother too that lives
there, but he´s somewhat hard to find sometimes. It was really cool
because last Monday when we taught them, Elder F** pulled out a
picture of baptism and they all got really quiet and then when we
invited them to get baptized on the 23rd, they all got super excited
haha! I´ve never seen people get so excited to be baptized before haha!
But they started talking really fast about how they needed to do it and
wanted to to be closer to Heavenly Father and such, and I dunno, what
came to my mind is what I always picture pre-earth life to be like when
we shouted for joy when Heavenly Father´s plan was presented. It was
just really cool and the Spirit was really strong. The only problem is
that the mom found work outside the city because she couldn´t find
anything else here. She doesn´t want to go because her kids are still in
school and if they move outside the city, it´s almost certain that they
won´t have the chance to go to school. But the good thing is that the
ward is already on top of that one. It´ll all work out in the end. I
remember the G** family in Guayara and know that everything works
out in the end.
We also got a call from Elder H** this week about a reference
that isn´t in our area, but Pdte Zambrano wanted us to go teach them
first because they´re Jehova´s Witness and it came from a member that
lives in the States but that has been here for 3 weeks now visiting his
family. We went over there to teach them and only his sister was there,
who made it very clear that she didn´t want anything to do with us and
wanted to leave when we started with a prayer. Then 5 minutes later her
husband showed up and she left with her 2 kids. Then we waited another
half an hour or so for his brother to show up. He got there and we
didn´t have much time to teach him, but we talked a little bit about the
Restoration and his religious background and the member shared his
awesome conversion story. He didn´t want to schedule another visit, but
he took the pamphlet to read. He gave us his number though so we can
call him up this week. Don´t really know what to think about that
because he wants to know, but doesn´t. Had lots of questions, but
doesn´t want all of them answered.... But anyway, we went back again
last night because we were going to teach his other brother, but he
never showed up. Poor member guy. He felt really bad that he never
showed up, but we have his number in the States so we can let him know
when we teach his family again. The good thing is that the first sister
lives in our area in Mangales haha! We know exactly where she lives and
she said we could stop by her house. We´ll definitely take her up on
that to visit the whole family. And we have plans with the member from
Florida to teach his whole family and then pass them along to the sister
missionaries that are in the area.
We also have a referral for el Urubó, the area across the river. So
all the members here always say that when there´s a temple here in
Santa Cruz, it´ll be in el Urubó, because it´s by far the nicest area of
the whole city.... because it´s not in the city haha! But ya, the
church isn´t organized over there and there aren´t missionaries over
there. BUT, before I left the offices, Pdte Zambrano explained to me the
whole vision he has about that area and told me to get referrals over
there so he can send the assistants over there or the secretaries. So
yesterday we found that there´s a member here who has a sister that
lives over there that´s inactive right now and has a husband who´s not a
member. So we called up Pdte yesterday..... and we´re going to be the
first missionaries to be teaching in Urubó!!!! Heck yes. And so we´re
probably going over on Wednesday.... we´ll see what happens.
